Review: OBS Crius Plus RTA

The OBS Crius Plus takes everything that worked great in the Crius v3 and bumps up the capacity to 5.8ml while adding top air flow. I own two of the Crius v3’s so I was quite excited to find that they bumped the size up to 5.8ml. Sometimes you just need that extra bit of juice for long drives or vacations.

Aesthetics

OBS kept the appearance of the Crius Plus pretty close to the original Crius. It still has the angled grooves that assist in the opening of the top fill as well as the OBS and Crius logo engraved on the barrel. It’s a nice looking RTA with

subtle touches of flair. The black version now has silver tracing of the angles on the top cap and bottom for the juice flow.

Functionality

I was unable to find much in the way of flaws on the original Crius and the Crius Plus is much the same. The subtle changes they made were mostly for the better.

5.8ml is a subtle improvement over the 4.2ml of the previous Crius and the size of the tank was also increased to 25mm. I find the flavor to be pretty close between the two with a slight edge to the smaller version.

OBS added top airflow that is easily adjusted and provides tons of airflow in conjunction with the 4 air holes on the base. The top airflow also curbed one flaw I found in the original. The Crius Plus no longer traps water in the chimney after cleaning. OBS made the juice flow and airflow control look a little nicer but it reduced the ability to turn easily.

The deck is a little larger on the plus which allows for a little bit bigger builds. The posts are also not drilled all the way through which I had seen complaints about on the v3.

Top fill is still a joy to use and very easy to top off the tank at any time. I still get a tiny bit of juice that squeezes out along the edges but the ease of filling without detaching anything is entirely worth it.

Instead of the glass and stainless drip trip, OBS included a black delrin 510 wide bore tip. It’s about the same as the original just no glass.

Summary

I am a big fan of OBS and the Crius Plus is no exception. It’s just a great tank to use all around. The larger size and build deck is great. Flavor is better than most tanks like the Griffin 25 with equal builds. I like the subtle changes to the appearance even if they make the airflow and juice flow slightly harder to adjust. I will keep this around and likely pick up a second. OBS just makes great tanks for flavor and functionality.
