Review: UD EZ RTA

The EZ RTA is an easily built tank designed to transition sub ohm tank users into the world of building their own coils. Like almost every modern RTA the EZ  is sporting the typical array of features including top fill, adjustable airflow and juice flow control.

EZ-01.jpgWhat does set the EZ apart from its competition is the simplified build deck. Spring loaded post holes allow the user to throw a coil in, snap the clamps down and wick without ever having to reach for their screwdriver. To further simplify the experience, UD has included 3 pre wicked Clapton coils, and 3 pre wicked round wire coils.

I was able to throw a set of dual coils in, and get the tank up and running in less than 5 minutes of opening the packaging. They also have included a single coil ceramic adapter that had become standard for any UD product on the market lately. Taking a note from the griffin, UD has included a cotton ring to guide users and give a clear indication as to where it should be trimmed, and how thick it needs to be to prevent leaking.

The airflow on the EZ is slightly restricted, but ample enough for me to do lung hits. It can however be closed down enough to enjoy mouth to lung with a very similar draw to the nautilus when nearly closed. The flavor is good, and I managed to fit fused Clapton coils at 2mm ID, with round wire topping out around 2.5mm comfortably and 3mm for those with more desire to work the coils closer to the posts.

EZ rta10.jpgTop fill and juice flow control work well, and don’t feel overly complicated or difficult to use. The top fill ports are wide enough to fill with a glass dropper with no spillage. Juice flow works in a similar manner to the griffin tank, spinning above the AFC to block the juice ports from the main reservoir.

Overall, the EZ is a great tank for learning the art of building your own coils, or for those looking for a convenient flavor chasing atomizer with an innovative deck. If the EZ existed in the days when I was learning to build, I might have saved myself a good handful of nights of frustration trying to center my coils and trap my leads. The tank is well machined and carefully thought out, and I can see myself vaping it forward to a friend just learning to build.
